Our medical journey is defined by the start of symptoms, the care we seek out, the feedback we get from our doctor, and the action we take.

Recently I had the pleasure of listening to Jami McNees about her Power of Moments, as she told a funny and tear jerking account of her moments on her journey being diagnosed with bladder cancer.

Here I would like to pass on her wise wisdom to you.

But before I give you the details, I came up with an acronym to help remember what you are about to learn. LTHG: Let The Hell Go!

Just kidding, or not!

That is another great way of saying surrender in my book. While we are humans that like to take control, we only have a piece of the control, so do your best, and give God the rest.

Jami prepared herself for that possibility.I think we should all prepare ourselves, for whatever you are facing in life.

This is how to do just that.

1. Lean In:

They say what you resist, persists. Jami had the notion off “ok cancer, what are you here to show or teach me”.

2. Time to Talk:

Obviously this could take over your life if you let it. She decided to give it 15 minutes every day, and outloud vocalize her concerns, fears, and questions.

3.Head on:

After the dialog she would come up with solutions and deal with the dilemmas with action.

4. Gratitude:

Research shows this changes your brain waves for the better in this attitude of gratitude.

“Knowledge is nothing without action! ”

TIP: Try to practice LTHG (the 4 steps above) in the next 2 minutes with something, anything, medical or not that you are facing.

PS. Jami wrote a book, Beautiful Cancer that is excellent, truely for anyone facing a medical challenge, or who enjoys self improvement. Her day job is being The Health Insurance Lady, if you need help reach out to her.
