Boosting Your Immune System

Covid has it’s rounds again, starting around Christmas time and still weekly we are getting calls from patients and friends, who’ve had “the vid” per Kevin Hart, or “the rona” as others call it. Although, luckily the omicron variant seems nicer, as “loss of taste and smell” is no longer the common denominator symptom.

Currently, most common reported symptoms seem very similar to a common cold or flu.

  • Headache

  • Coughs

  • Sore Throat

  • Fever & Chills

  • Body Aches

…and all of the other symptoms that can be a part of the winter season.

Viruses of all kinds thrive this time of year, and why not take some steps to help try to prevent, or lessen them.

1. Vitamin N (Nature):

Get fresh air and sunshine regularly

2. Movement:

Make it at least 5 min per day, or more!

Moving increases your oxygenation and blood flow to all of your body’s cells; this enhances cellular function for your entire system to work better.

3. Sleep:

Get 7-9 hours per night for the best recovery and restoration. Sleep powers the

mind and restores the body.

4. Nutrition:

Increase garlic, onions, colorful fruits and veggies, mushrooms, turmeric. Avoid sugar and alcohol.

5. Hydrate:

Drink ½ your body weight in ounces as a minimum every day. For example, if

you weigh 150 pounds, drink 75 ounces as a minimum daily.

6. Supplements:

ASK YOUR DOC ABOUT:

  • Vitamin C: 1,000mg 2 – 3x per day, more if sick

  • Vitamin D3: 2,000 – 10,000 IU per day depending on your Vitamin D status

  • Zinc, preferably in a bisglycinate chelate form: 15 – 50mg per day. 15 – 30 mg

on a daily basis is usually enough when you are feeling well.

50mg is if you are fighting something off. (this is in many multivitamins already)

  • Melatonin: 0.5-1.5mg per evening, before bed.

  • Probiotic can help

  • Olive Leaf Extract: 1 cap 1 – 2x per day or per your label.

  • Botanicals such as elderberry, echinacea, goldenseal, astragalus, reishi, melissa (a great easy/inexpensive way to get these, is drink herbal medicinal tea)

There is also so many others things, but this is a good basic list.

We have a special supplement program with a 10% discount, just send us a message (in ChARM/email/phone) and we can put together something for you.

PS. If you haven’t had our Vitamin D tested in last 6 months or so, you should get that, along with others…blood work is one the best ways to know how well your body chemistry is doing, kind of like taking your car in for an oil change and check-up.
