Historically this is the age that culturally we’ve called this the “over the hill” birthday, being that the average life expectancy is approximately 80 years old, one is now half way there…other sources do use 50 years old. However, a side note is unfortunately due to the covid-19 pandemic, it’s decreased to age 77.

Most of my life, I’ve loved birthdays, it was a reason to reflect, and gather with loved ones to celebrate this precious life that we often take for granted. I’ll be honest, the last couple years, I’ve lost my enthusiasm to plan parties, but I’m still 100% for reflecting on life, lessons, and using this to help reignite.

Recently, I met a woman who is turning 50, and she shared that she created a list of 50 things she wanted to do before her upcoming special day. I asked her what was on her list. I loved her passion-she wants to go indoor skydiving and  repelling, to name a couple.

It made me think what are some of my bucket-list items, to be done in my 40th year?

Well I’m going to share a few of my things, some not so exciting, but things that I’m due for and/or desire:

For Health:

  • PAP

  • Eye exam

  • Grow Food

  • Compost

  • Weekly weight lifting (with hubby)

For Experience:

  • Visit Ojai

  • Have a Pampered Chef party

  • Outdoor bonfire

  • Paddle board

  • Surf Lesson

For Relationships:

  • Lunch with a friend monthly

  • Date with Andy hubby weekly

For Career:

  • Publish a book

Sometimes it’s life simple things…

And if you’ve read this far-thank you…this probably means your a part of my life, directly or indirectly…

I challenge you, start thinking about your next birthday and what you hope to be doing, have been to, etc.
